I’m an 18 year old physics undergrad at UCSB. I’ll be starting my second year in three weeks. During summers, I work for General Atomics, mostly working on control systems for cryofracture plants. I read a lot, although not as much as I used to. Movies are great, but generally I find they aren’t worth the eight or so dollars that they cost. I follow soccer with unswerving dedication, while other sports fill in the gaps when I cannot fulfill my desire for soccer. I play racquetball every week with friends after church, and can’t wait to join the intramural league as soon as school starts again. In general, I’m happy. My life is going well. I’ve got a supportive family, some good close friends, and a full ride scholarship to do what I love to do more than anything else: learn. I have yet to come across anything that rivals the sense of wonder that comes from learning new and amazing things. That’s pretty much everything about myself that I think is worth telling.

Anyways, I came across joeuser one day surfing the internet. I forget how I got here, but I’m pretty sure it was through little_whip’s article about bringing back the draft. Well, I was intrigued, so I looked at some more articles. I found the discussions interesting, and I liked the way articles were featured on the front page and the most popular articles are also listed. After a while I made an account so that I could make comments. Well, tonight I felt a strange compulsion to start a blog. Man, I hate that word. I don’t know why. Just the way it sounds grates on me. Whatever. So, I’m beginning this blog on the 29th of August. I really don’t care so much if people read this. I just feel like writing stuff down. With all that said, here I go.

Welcome to JU! Just so you know, if you would like to keep your "blog" (sounds dirty, doesn't it?) private, there are settings you can choose that will make it so that others cannot read your posts. Again, welcome!
